Southern Lights II – Crimson Veil
Southern Lights II – Crimson Veil is a large-scale abstract acrylic painting on an 80 × 120 cm canvas. Part of Sennur Uzgen’s Inner Aurora series, the work explores the emotional emergence of light from darkness.
Layers of deep violet gradually dissolve into radiant magenta and crimson tones, forming a luminous atmospheric field reminiscent of aurora phenomena. Rather than depicting a literal sky, the painting translates this visual phenomenon into an inner, psychological landscape.
Soft gradients and vertical transitions suggest movement, transformation, and a quiet energetic shift. A dark silhouette at the lower edge anchors the composition, evoking either a horizon line or a subconscious threshold, while the glowing upper layers rise like an act of internal awakening.
This work speaks to collectors of contemporary abstract art, color field painting, and emotional abstraction. It brings warmth, intensity, and meditative depth into interior spaces.
A signature piece within Sennur Uzgen’s Surrexpressionism practice, where surreal perception merges with raw emotional expression.
