Southern Lights I
“Southern Lights I” is part of a 10-piece series exploring internal climates through atmospheric abstraction. In this work, color becomes a psychological landscape rather than a geographical one.
The intense red field dominates the composition, symbolizing emotional heat, transformation, and inner turbulence, while the transition into violet and blue suggests a descent into depth, reflection, and subconscious calm. The grounded lower forms act as anchors, contrasting the fluid and expansive sky above.
This series reinterprets the phenomenon of aurora not as a natural event, but as an internal experience — a manifestation of shifting emotional states. Positioned within a contemporary abstract language, the work aligns with a personal approach I define as Surrexpressionism, merging expressive intensity with surreal spatial perception.
“Southern Lights I” invites collectors to engage not only visually, but emotionally — offering a space where inner atmospheres become visible.
